I often have to stop a moment to think about whether or not I'm a genius at something. I mean the answer is usually "yes", obvs.
Like right now I'm watching Make or Break, Linda Perry's VH1 show. For like a second I was convinced that songwriting was my secret passion and talent. But then I thought about it and realized it's not. I am musically inept except I have the voice of a gilded kitten angel.
I'll find that one thing though.

Tim Holtz June 2013 tag
I did another Tim Holtz tag for Swap-Bot. Coincidentally I have the person who sent me the tag that they made for May. So I'm excited to return the favor. I really liked using the watercolor Distress pens because I suck at normal watercolors. The were totally pricey, but I sold off some of my possessions to buy them, so I feel less guilty. I've already used them more than 95% of my other craft stuff.

Tim Holtz May 2013 tag
I recently joined Swap-Bot, a site for all kinds of cool email, postcard, and package trades.I joined it mostly for the craft aspect of it, but I've also been doing a lot of postcard swaps. I really just like getting mail, so it's nice to find cool stuff in my mailbox almost every day.
A lot of the crafts are stuff I don't normally do, but I have really been trying to get into a routine of making stuff. That makes it easier to make something the next day, and the next.
I have a lot of Tim Holtz products because they are really cool and unique. I'm not into scrapbooking and that kind of genre of crafts because it's usually way too twee. But the trend in crafting is a hodge-podgy, grungy assortment of found objects and rusty old things. That I can get behind.
One of the swaps I just participated in was the Tim Holtz May Tag. I don't normally make tags - I don't even know what you're supposed to do with them. Display them? Put them on a gift? But I was curious to try some of the techniques. I don't have all the exact products that he suggests, so I just dug through my stash and used what looked good. I had a little trouble with the rub-ons I used for some reason, plus they warped a little when I used my heat gun. But I like how it turned out, and I hope my swap partner will too!

I love my fierce unicorn stamp. I used some embossing powder on the music note. |

No matter what the odds are this time
I just found a CD wallet with a bunch of mix CDs I made for myself like 10 years ago. I thought to myself that the Perfect Strangers theme song would have been great. AND THE NEXT TRACK WAS THE PERFECT STRANGERS THEME SONG.
So I serenaded my cat Abe.
My friends and I used to serenade each other with the song "Carlita" by Goldfinger. More of that in 2013.

01/26
Remember how I mentioned North Wood's restaurant a couple weeks ago, and how it's a place for special occasions? Know what makes it less special? When you go two weeks later. The 26th was my mom's "second" birthday. I actually had something really cool planned out. Nick Offerman was doing a show at Largo in L.A. I've really been wanting to go see a show at Largo, but a lot of the cool ones happen during the week and even though it's less than an hour away from me I just haven't made it. So that show would have been perfect because I love Nick Offerman, and my mom needs to love Nick Offerman. However in the couple days that I was trying to coordinate with my sister about birthday plans the show sold out. And there were no other comedy shows that I thought would be perfect. So it was a bit of a bummer for sure. Since plan A fell through, and I had no plan B I didn't really get the chance to surprise her with anything cool. So I let her pick and she chose North Woods. Again. Just like last year. It's ok, it was still good.
